H&M Wants You!

Attention design students, Swedish retailer H&M announced their new design competition – the H&M Design Award, with the ambition of supporting talented designers after their graduation.

“I’m very excited about the H&M Design Award,” said H&M Head of Design Ann-Sofie Johansson. “It´s our first ever prize for new young designers, and it’s been such an inspiring experience to meet these talented graduates, to hear the vision behind their collections and to see the final result. With the award I hope we encourage young designers around the world to believe in themselves and their creativity. I can’t wait to share the experience with everyone online.”

Graduates from fourteen colleges in six countries will compete for the prize; a cash prize of €50,000, a show at the Mercedes-Benz Stockholm Fashion Week next month, and an opportunity to sell select pieces at H&M stores

“For the winner to win that amount of money and to show at Stockholm Fashion Week is incredible because they really will be catapulted to the front line of fashion.” – added Hilary Alexander.

On February 1, the winner’s show will debut online. To follow the award process online visit designaward2012.hm.com
