Giorgio Armani Beauty Celebrates the Year of the Monkey

Like many other brands, Giorgio Armani Beauty is commemorating the upcoming Year of the Monkey with a new palette named “Chinese New Year.” The makeup case is adorned in traditional Chinese colors, and inside, the outline of a monkey is imprinted into the illuminating powder. The new palette will primarily be sold in Asian countries but will also be available in selected retail outlets in the US and Europe. In Europe, it will be priced at €85.

Swedish fashion house Acne Studios introduced their first line of bags. Crafted in supple, natural Italian leather, the range includes three models: Buckle jeans, Hero jeans and the Rope styles.

“For me a bag is more than an object, it’s a personaI thing. When I started looking at bags, the intention was not to do an ‘it-bag’, but to explore the world of bags and create different styles and characters. I really enjoy designing bags since it’s so sculptural, almost like creating a piece of art,” said Acne Creative Director, Jonny Johansson, in a statement.

Demna Gvasalia Is The New Creative Director of Balenciaga

Following the departure of Alexander Wang, Balenciaga has appointed Demna Gvasalia as the new creative director. The 34-year-old Georgian designer graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Antwerp and is the founder of provocative Parisian label Vetements.

“I am very pleased to welcome Demna Gvasalia as the artistic director of Balenciaga’s collections. He has quickly emerged as the best choice for the new artistic direction of the maison. With his mastery of techniques, his expertise and fashion knowledge, in conjunction with his innovative and carefully considered approach, Demna Gvasalia adopts a unique vision of the designer’s role today and thus recalls Cristobal Balenciaga’s own vision.
